Ok, you can use any sausage, but I made this to specifically try out the Men’s Room sausage as they talk about how good it is all the time. Guess what? It WAS pretty good.
- 4 Men’s Room Original Red sausage
- 1 Sweet onion, sliced
- 8 strips bacon
- 4 slices provolone cheese
- Good quality buns
- Favorite BBQ sauce (we use Sweet Baby Rays)
Start by heating your grill to medium high heat.
Take a sausage and starting at one end, wrap bacon around it. Take another slice of bacon and start where the first one left off, wrapping the entire sausage. ( I wrapped mine pretty tight, you may only need one piece of bacon if you wrap it a little looser).
Throw those puppies on the grill and brush BBQ sauce over them. Continue to cook them, turning occasionally, brushing BBQ sauce over them every time you turn them, until done.
While sausage is cooking, heat olive oil over medium high heat in a pan. Add onions, season with salt and pepper, and cook until translucent and they have some charred spots on them.
Once you sausage is done, remove and set aside under foil. Toast your buns.
Place one sausage into a bun and top with cheese. Wrap loosely in foil and place back on the grill for cheese to melt. Top with onions and additional BBQ if desired.
